Survey of British Literature

This course is a cursory look at literature produced by Great Britian. Beginning with the tales of King Arthur, the student will become acquainted with the genius of William Shakespeare. Afterwards, the excellent works of Swift and Pope will be read, progressing to the several fine novels of the 18th century. The course ends with Shaw's comic look at war, only to be brought back to reality with the poetry of those who witnessed the horror of bloodshed firsthand.
