This two-week course is a follow-on companion to Moping Melancholy Mad: An Introduction to Poetry. Lessons include understanding various poetic devices such as imagery, personification, and allusion. The course tries to establish an objective view for interpreting poetry and not one that is purely subjective. Also included for the student's consideration is an essay by Arlo Bates, "Foundations of Work."
